Overview of Universal Medical College (UMC) Dhaka
Universal Medical College is a private non-profit medical college established in 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its goal is to produce medical graduates who can provide quality healthcare services to the people of Bangladesh. The campus features well-equipped hospitals and laboratories, air-conditioned classrooms, modern teaching facilities, and indoor and outdoor treatment facilities for patients. The college is an eight-story building, and the attached hospital is a six-story building with arrangements for 350 inpatients.
The Universal Medical College Hospital, formerly known as Ayesha Memorial Hospital, is a general and referral hospital that provides multidisciplinary medical care backed by state-of-the-art facilities.
UMC offers an MBBS program affiliated with Dhaka University, which follows the Curriculum for Undergraduate Medical Education in Bangladesh-Updated 2012 approved by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC). The academic year runs from January to June, with class hours from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM and an interval between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM. Clinical students also have two hours of evening bedside teaching classes in the hospital.
The college is recognized by the BM&DC and the World Health Organization, and it has been approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW) of the Bangladesh government since 2013.
